Who we are
Assisi convent and Research Centre belongs to the Congregation of Teresian Carmelites (CTC) established in 1866 - is an Indigenous Congregation in India with its head quarters in Ernakulum District.
Assisi convent & hospital at Panavally was established in 1982 for imparting medical care. It was started as an Allopathic hospital but seeing the needs of people and reality of the situation in the area, the centre was changed into a holistic system of medical service for imparting education, medical care and rehabilitation for mentally challenged persons.
Assisi Holistic Research centre is a charitable institution started in the year 2003 with holistic medical system for treating the sick. This system is a combination of Electrohomeopathy and Acupuncture. The hospital has a capacity of 50 beds and an average of 90 to 100 patients take treatments from this hospital daily as out patients.
Assisi Rehabilitation Centre for Children with disabilities started in 2005, by the centre to help the mentally and physically challenged children as well as adults .
Assisi Holistic Research Centre & hospital is situated at Panavally Panchayath, which is an island in the back waters of Vembanad Lake near Cherthala in Alappuzha District of Kerala state.
The Foundress of our congregation is servent of God very. Rev. Mother Eliswa Vakayil. The sisters of the congregation operate all over india,Africa, Itally and Germany. Education and health services are the two major fields of involvement and the congregation works among the most disadvantaged sections of the society.

Assisi Rehabilitation Centre for children with disabilities
- Many families live in isolation for shame and disgrace when they have mentally retared children. We aim to bring these children to normalcy through the treatment and help them to live a normal life.
- They become confident, hopeful and be able to face the challenges of life.
- They become independent financially to meet their material needs and cease to be a burden to their family.
- To help them develop physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and financially so that they develop into mature adults, who are able to perform their daily tasks with independence.
- They contribute to the society as individuals, and become of great value to the society rather than become burdens
